POSITION SUMMARY: Scotiatrust Taxation Services is a group of customer-focused tax professionals with particular expertise in Canadian personal, estate and trust and registered charities taxation. The Tax Administrator position involves various tax compliance tasks in the noted areas of taxation. We will train students to use Taxprep software applications for preparation of tax forms and returns. Upon completion of the work term, students can expect to gain a working knowledge of the taxation requirements affecting Estates/Trusts and Individuals. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES FOR THIS ROLE INCLUDE: Prepare T3 Trust Income Tax and Information Returns Prepare T1 Individual Income Tax and Benefit Returns Prepare T5 Statement of Investment Income Gather relevant documentation and tax information from Scotia Wealth Management partners for preparation of tax returns Ensure tax returns are prepared accurately and within defined standards of service and prescribed deadlines Research, analyze and discuss specific tax issues, as directed by your supervisor Review of Notice of Assessment and responding to queries and audits from the federal and provincial tax agencies Assist with administrative duties such as sorting and collating computer-generated reports, scanning, photocopying and filing QUALIFICATIONS: All interested applicants must be enrolled in a program with a post-secondary educational institution. We will confirm with your school that you are enrolled. KNOWLEDGE& SKILLS: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organization skills required to complete a variety of activities within tight deadlines Ability to work well in a busy team environment Strong analytical skills Strong computer and software skills, particularly with MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.) Previous experience in accounting or income tax would be beneficial Experience with tax software would be an asset How do I apply?
