The Role

The Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) contributes to the success of Douglas College and its community of learners by using their technological skills and experience to gather, monitor and analyze data to ensure the successful delivery of the WorkBC Langley and Maple Ridge Centres and WorkBC Apprentice Services. The QAS will also support quality improvement processes by reviewing data, creating internal reports and fixing data errors as required and support the WorkBC contract staff in understanding/navigating the systems required to administer the programs. Responsibilities Internal Quality Assurance:
• Reviews and tracks monthly Performance Measures from the Business Intelligence (BI) Portal, then recommends, documents and implements corrective actions to improve performance;
• Reviews client files in the Integrated Case Management system (ICM) to ensure that they are complete, up to date and have the required documentation attached to the Client file as per WorkBC Documentation Standards;
• Monitors timeliness of response to applications and client services throughout the process using reports produced by the electronic workflow system;
• Coaches WorkBC team members on correct procedures and standards when errors or omissions are observed;
• Champions the implementation of internal processes and best practices with WorkBC teams, including training and support;
Outcomes and Reporting:
• Reviews the data to determine trends and provide recommendations to the Manager of Quality Assurance and Data Applications, Team Lead and Centre Manager;
• Actions data fixes identified through Quality Assurance Audits, Observation Reports or Business Intelligence Portal;
• Participates with online training and deciphers the appropriate/relevant information to discuss with the Centre Manager or the Manager of Quality Assurance and Data Applications;
• Participates in the maintenance of Douglas College’s Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015); and
• Performs other duties as assigned.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need •A professional, positive, and energetic attitude;
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to establish priorities, work to deadlines, and maintain well documented records;
• Strong computer skills, including the full Microsoft Office suite at an intermediate or better level.
Operating knowledge of Oracle databases and ICM considered an asset;
• Work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team in the design, development and delivery of services to ensure program outcomes are met;
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy;
• Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings;
• Experience with interpreting statistical data and demonstrated ability to maneuver within excel.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant business field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
• Quality inspection, auditing and testing experience an asset;
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
• Excellent computer skills (intermediate to advanced level): MS Office Suite, database management, and workflow management systems;
• Experience using on-line reporting and communication portals/databases;
• Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings;
• Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check.
