About BOMA Canada

The Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada connects, resources and elevates the Canadian commercial real estate industry. We provide a wide range of services to our membership including education, thought leadership, research, standard setting, advocacy, networking, certification, celebration and fun.

A national not-for-profit organization with a strong business culture, our organization is comprised of over 3,500 members and eleven independent local associations. Representing over two billion square feet of commercial space, BOMA members include building owners, developers, facility managers, asset managers, property managers, building operators, leasing agents, brokers, investors and service providers. Members represent large and small Canadian and international commercial real estate firms and vendors into the industry. Our stakeholders extend beyond the formal membership to include government, other industry associations, other non-profits, charities, partners in other countries and more.

BOMA Canada is a mission-driven organization focused not only on the financial success of our members, but also on their environmental, social and governance success. Current major initiatives revolve around sustainability; equity, diversity and inclusion; accessibility; health and wellness; and more. We are a small and dynamic team that gets things done.

The growing BOMA Canada staff is a dynamic team of about 25 self-starters and is headquartered in downtown Toronto. Currently we have adopted a hybrid work model, with our staff being in the office three times a week and working from home the rest of the time. Our working language is English, but we provide services in French and, increasingly, in Spanish.

Our flagship program is BOMA BEST, Canada's leading sustainability management and certification program for existing commercial real estate. For the past 5 years we have invested significant time and resources into BOMA BEST which has resulted in an impressive growth trajectory. We are currently in the process or redeveloping both the platform and content to offer an expanded suite of services. Seeking to capitalize on this success and expected new growth and with a view to growing and diversifying organizational revenue, we are currently considering various expansion possibilities, too.

The role:

Are you passionate about sustainability and committed to driving positive change in the built environment? We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Manager of Standards to lead the development and management of content for BOMA BEST and contribute to our mission of setting industry-leading standards for building certification and education.

Your leadership will ensure that BOMA BEST remains at the forefront of the industry, providing top-notch education and guidance to support the transition to low-carbon economy.

Content Management Pro: Manage and maintain existing program content across various property types and certification streams. With your expertise, the BOMA BEST program will continuously evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of our stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement: Be the bridge between the CRE industry and our program by incorporating valuable input and feedback. You will drive the release of new program versions annually, ensuring its relevance and effectiveness.

Expert Support: Provide timely and expert assistance to technical users, addressing queries and clarification requests. Your proficiency will empower stakeholders to navigate the program seamlessly.

Resource Development: Create and develop user guides, program policies, and other resources to support program content effectively.

Partnership Cultivation: Foster strong relationships with third-party BOMA BEST verifiers, providing them with essential resources and training.

Verification Management: Assess verification needs and capacity, and hire/train verifiers as required to maintain the program's high standards.

Applicant Support: Develop and deliver additional resources to support program applicants in achieving BOMA BEST certification.

Quality Assurance: Ensure the utmost quality of BOMA BEST submissions, resolving challenges through collaboration with new verification professionals.

Dynamic Role: This role is flexible, and as you grow within it, your duties may adapt to the evolving needs of our rapidly growing business.
