Staff Lawyer
Location: Ontario
Our client
Is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access to justice for all Ontarians.
Responsibilities
Answer Hotline calls and provide legal advice to callers on employment matters, civil litigation, and small claims court questions.
Assess applications from victims of workplace sexual harassment.
Draft letters and legal documents, including demand letters and workplace complaints.
Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteer lawyers supporting the program.
Collaborate with external organizations to coordinate services and improve system navigation for clients.
Qualifications
Licensed lawyer with employment law experience preferred.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to navigate emotionally charged conversations with empathy and professionalism.
Comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including nonprofit partners, community organizations, and volunteer lawyers from major firms.
Strong organizational, analytical, and program-management capabilities.
Proficiency with the MS Office suite and comfort learning new technologies.
Prior experience with Salesforce or another CRM is a significant asset.
Team-oriented, grounded, and collaborative, with a genuine commitment to access to justice.
Compensation & Benefits
Contract-based position with potential to convert to permanent.
Salary: depending on experience.
