Position: Social Media Editor Company: The Manitoban Salary:$456 biweekly Term: June 2025 to April 2026
About the Position: The Manitoban is the official students’ newspaper of the University of Manitoba. The Social Media Editor is responsible for promoting published articles across our social media platforms. Regular duties include attending weekly meetings on Monday and Wednesday evenings, following our social media guidelines, extracting shareable elements from stories, and reporting monthly summaries of analytics.
Responsibilities include: reading all articles published each issue in order to write social media captions for all articles and additional posts for all platforms; working with the copy team and other editors to continually improve quality, accuracy and engagement; promoting podcasts and videos on social media and planning and implementing additional strategies, initiatives and opportunities to grow social media presence, engagement and following.
Qualifications:
Applicants should exhibit a flair for design as well as a working understanding of newspaper design.
The ideal candidate has previous experience in social media usage, and familiar with social media usage for businesses, events, or organizations.
Experience with regular assignment deadlines is also considered an asset.
Applicants should currently be a student or have been a student in the past two years.
