Overview
Senior Data Engineer at Brother Canada. The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, and delivering scalable, high-performance data solutions that empower better, faster, and simpler decision-making across the organization. Mentors team members and collaborates with cross-functional partners to deliver impactful results aligned with strategic goals.
Responsibilities
Lead the development, optimization, and maintenance of data pipelines from multiple sources; build and enhance database business logic (stored procedures, triggers, functions) to support ETL/ELT for analytics and operations.
Manage modern data warehouses across AWS, Azure, and Snowflake; maintain and enhance AWS serverless pipelines using Step Functions, Fargate, Lambda, SAM, and API integrations; troubleshoot and debug.
Own CI/CD deployment processes for Databricks jobs, serverless pipelines, and database scripts; drive automation with Docker and Jenkins.
Develop and optimize pipelines to support ML models, simulations, and predictive analytics.
Apply data governance best practices to ensure quality, security, and compliance; produce comprehensive documentation for developers and business users.
Mentor data engineers and collaborate with analytics, IT, and business teams to align solutions with strategic objectives.
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
6-8 years of data engineering experience with leadership in scalable solution delivery.
Technical Skills (Must-Have):
SQL: advanced stored procedures, triggers, functions, Snowflake/AWS RDS/Azure SQL.
ETL Tools: Alteryx, Databricks, or equivalent.
Programming: Python or My SQL.
Cloud & Serverless: AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Step Functions, Fargate, Lambda, SAM, API integration.
Dev Ops: CI/CD for data workloads; Docker/Jenkins.
Visualization: Tableau or Power BI.
Additional Skills:
Experience supporting ML and predictive analytics pipelines.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Proactive learner, adaptable to emerging technologies.
Bilingual; proficiency in English for communication beyond Quebec.
