YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE: Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the Security Officer is part of the Health & Safety Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine.

The incumbent coordinates the security sector of the Health & Safety Department and ensures good security practices in terms of the road, building, gold and employee security, as well as playing an important role in investigations, policy conception, gold security logistics, and security communication.

They will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Patrol the camp site surroundings on foot and the mine site/roads in a vehicle; Oversee employee security; Respond to various incidents and emergencies; Conduct proper investigations into security incidents; Gather evidence and ensure proper handling of exhibits; Conduct Investigation of any problematic behavior under the leadership of HR; Produce internal reports and provide feedback on incidents and investigations; Foster good relationships with other employees and liaise with the local communities and authorities; Lead and coordinate emergency operations with other emergency services; Perform employee check-in process for outbound chartered flights; Given the remote location and scale of the operations, security officers may be required to expand their range of duties and demonstrate proficiency in providing Health and Safety general training; Perform workplace inspections and audits on the implementation of H&S tools (Job Hazard Analysis, Job Task Observation); Perform other such duties as may be assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEEDProven experience in law enforcement (7 years minimum at the municipal, provincial or federal level); RCMP/Police Officer certification required; Valid driver’s license; Working knowledge of interview techniques and scene management; Ability to build effective working relationships; Sound judgment along with effective decision-making skills; Must demonstrate responsibility, dependability, honesty, confidentiality and integrity; Strong analytical skills along with good interviewing and interrogation skills; Experience working in a multicultural environment; Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team; Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & Power Point; Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written).
