Job Description

Main Objective is to provide precise and prioritized reliability engineering services to work in a safe and productive manner, minimizing production losses and maintenance cost per unit, while supporting, promoting and demonstrating IKO’s core values and leadership behaviors.

Position Key Responsibility Overview :

Root Cause Analysis and FMECA/RCM Support:

·         Lead training to utilize the Maximo-integrated, 5-Why RCA’s and Troubleshooting as a part of keeping the Mechanical, Electrical and Process FMECA/RCM alive to drive down highest Pareto valued production losses.

·         Participate in the Corporate Weekly Reliability GoTo Meetings, training, webinars, SMRP, and Reliability Magazine subscriptions in order to keep up to date with reliability knowledge, techniques and mythologies.

·         Lead initiatives for corporate surveys, questionnaires and benchmarking as part of IKO Reliability Assessments and continuous improvement efforts.

·         Utilize Prodac/ Maximo interface production loss and Maint. cost data to drive to lowest child asset practical in order to target RCA / Troubleshooting, FMECA and RCM efforts prioritized to generate the greatest value return.

·         Maintain a strong work relationship with the Maintenance and Operations employees

·         Build the necessary disciplines for efficient and effective Running PdM and Shutdown PM plans that meets or exceeds critical leading indicators.

·         Prepare, organize and facilitate the Shingle line and axillary support systems utilizing FMECA/RCM, to identify failure codes as well as the PM’s and PdM’s required to have the earliest detection of those failure modes.

·         Utilize detailed Pareto analysis of production losses from Downtime, Rate Reduction from Plan and Waste to identify the highest critical assets to target for RCA’s, FMECA’s, Troubleshooting, etc. while optimizing the Shutdown PM’s developed from the FMECA/RCM and corresponding Spare Parts strategies.

·         Champion and mature a self-sufficient Condition Monitoring program that starts with 1st with Ultrasonic Precision Lube as well as the remaining full gamut of earliest detection capabilities Ultrasonic and Vibration technology offers, to significantly reduce Production losses while also reducing the Top 12 Wear Parts Spend.

·         Troubleshooting equipment, Design for Reliability, select and managing qualified contractors to precision-install and commission new equipment, monitor modifications, upgrades and critical parts required.

·         Supporting, promoting and demonstrating IKO’s core values and leadership behaviors.

·         Other highest valued reliability related responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Manager.

Maximo Support :

·         Follow Corporate Reliability Engineering Roles Responsibilities and Expectations (RR&E’s)

·         Provide necessary service support and training to Plant Maximo users, utilizing the Maximo Best Practices.

·         Update Plant’s Numerical Criticality Ranking in accordance with standardized IKO FMECA templates.

·         Standardize the PM and PdM task format to align with failure modes of FMECA, transitioning to mostly condition-based inspections while aligning weekly Maximo resource requirements to plant resource availability.

·         Develop working relationship with other IKO plants that have similar equipment in North America, UK & EU.

·         Develop and network PM’s and PdM’s from other plants to continuously improve safety, health, environment, quality, production efficiency, labor/material effectiveness, etc. to optimize critical asset Total Life Cycle Costs.

·          “Pare down” on low critical ranked asset PM labor hours to build necessary and robust PM’s for “highly critical” assets, aligning PM’s and PdM inspections with asset Failure Modes developed from FMECA’s.

·         Lead Co-Op Engineering Students as required to update drawings with standardized asset names and numbers linked into Maximo as part of the Plant’s Document Navigation Accelerator (DNA).

·         Assist Lead, Planner, and Condition Monitoring efforts to focus prioritization of work orders towards highest valued Production Loss Paretos rather than only the oldest backlogged WO.

·         The Reliability Engineer is the custodian of all Maximo processes in the plant and will provide training and support to:

a)      Maintenance Mechanics and Electricians – create service requests, complete released work orders, identify spare parts and components using DNA, provide all necessary documentation for performing precision maintenance, precision lubrication, condition monitoring etc.

b)      Inventory Coordinator – create requests to MDM Team for new MRO items, create Maximo and JDE requisitions, perform cycle counts, establish reorder points and quantities for existing inventory items, execute drawings and sketches for custom components

c)      Planner / Scheduler – utilize in-house resources and contractors for planning shutdowns and opportunistic maintenance, utilize Akwire and other third-party software for scheduling work, obtaining quotes, create CEAR-s and issuing Maximo and JDE requisitions for services.

d)      Maintenance Supervisors – close work orders with 5-why RCA, create reports to improve the effectiveness of our labor (Kronos vs. Maximo Labor Hours, Overdue PM-s, Time Spent VS. Time Estimated etc.), Weekly Downtime Reports and Quarterly Reviews.

·         Liaise with Plant and Corporate Engineering to ensure all documentation is maintained up-to-date and readily accessible.

·         The Reliability Engineer is to back up the Maintenance Supervisor in providing key assistance as the Planner – Scheduler is on vacation or in training. The Reliability Engineer to walk out and field verify information to problem solve highly critical repetitive problems that increase risk for costly Production Loss, Environmental or Health and Safety risk.

·         Completion of University degree in Engineering (preferably in Mechanical Engineering)

·         3 or more years of reliability experience in continuous process manufacturing environments.

·         Familiar with condition monitoring tools such as: vibration analysis, Ultrasonic, lubrication, thermography, etc..

·         Experience facilitating dozens of successful RCFA’s.

·         Experience with: FMECA’s, PM recommendations associated with preventing most probable Failure Modes, Production loss analysis, failure mitigation strategies, S
