Job Description


Under the direction of the Shop Lead, the Fire Extinguisher/Shop Technician will learn & carry out the following:

Hydrostatic testing/drying of low pressure cylinders (up to 700 psi)
Hydrostatic testing/drying of high pressure cylinders (10,000 psi)
Maintenance of hydro test devices, clean agent & CO2 pumps
Refurbishing, hydro testing/drying, filling of Dry Chemical, CO2, clean agent extinguishers
Dispose of extinguishers as required
Documentation of all extinguishers & hoses coming in/out for servicing
Shipping & receiving of hoses to be tested/finished to/from vendor
Serve customers at the counter
Receive/process payment from customers
Forklift moves
Facility Maintenance as required
All other shop duties as required


Requirements


Skills/attributes required

Good mechanical ability
Physically fit
Repeatedly able to lift 50 lbs
Squatting, bending, standing, twisting on a daily basis
Valid class 5 driver’s license
Good communication skills, both verbal, written, emails
Fluent in English
Able to work with minimal supervision
Forklift certification an asset

Qualifications & Educational Requirements

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma.
Computer skills and familiarity with commonly used office programs.
Experience with use of hand tools
Good record keeping
