Adecco is currently hiring an experienced and highly skilled Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer for a permanent position with our client located in Mississauga, ON. In this role you would be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining instrumentation and control systems in various industries, such as manufacturing, energy, chemical, or process engineering. Responsibilities:

  • specifications, loop sheets, location drawings, calculations, interlock details, review of Operator's Manual and procurement to achieve reliable instrumentation design & selection that is consistent with the Standard Design, Safe plant operation, Satisfied customer and no significant rework or non-conformances
  • Assistance to field installation and calibration of instruments and supervision of complete interlock check prior to chemical commissioning to achieve Interlock safety system works as designed and instruments installed as per standard design.
  • Interface with internal / external Customer and Consultants as needed to reach agreement on all details on instrumentation including vendor and standards to achieve and ensure consistency in the design, meet all customer expectations and no rework due to unacceptable equipment selection.
  • Maintain knowledge of vendors in the marketplace and assist with qualifying suppliers for use by ERCO and acquire ongoing knowledge of new developments in the marketplace to achieve up to date knowledge of equipment that may be requested by clients and maintain good relationship and knowledge of contacts in the supplier industry
  • Actively participate in Quality Improvement activities to improve the organization. Examples of these activities include: improvements to the design, changes to work practices, new product development and manufacturing projects. Target for reduction in costs and time to complete a project, timely and smooth introduction of new products to the plant design and improvements in the manufacturing process.
  • Meeting, training, reading magazines, filing, etc., participation in and support to departments outside of Engineering to achieve continuous improvement of personal skills, consistently aware of corporate activities and policies and support of corporate policies and initiative.

Qualifications:

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
  • Professional Engineering License (required)
  • Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or related discipline is required.
  • Over 10 years of experience in chemical and associated industries in instrumentation design, engineering and best practices is required.
  • Functional Safety Certification is desired.
  • Hands on experience with field instrumentation, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Interlock Systems (SIS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), Analytic Instruments for at least 10 years.
  • Expert level knowledge and experience in Instruments and Controls Design, system integration, DCS, SIS, SCADA, Hardware and Instrument Specifications, Loop Schematics, P&ID Layout, Field & Analytic instrument commissioning.
  • Safety Risk Assessment in chemical industries
  • Valid driver's license and passport
