Description


Syntax is currently looking to hire a versatile IT Specialist with 4+ years of experience in managing IT and supporting business users in a head office environment. This is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on experience with a broad range of IT systems.




Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical in-person support to users as well as via email & telephone (some off-hours & on-call support is likely)
Monitor support queue to respond to clients promptly once notified of an issue
Install, configure, and maintain a vast array of IT environments and systems including LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi networks, Firewalls, Servers, Storage, Cloud services and End-User support
Familiarity with both Windows and Mac operating systems
Install & maintain hardware and software systems to ensure stability, security, and usability. Escalate major hardware or software problems to vendors or technicians for service
Monitor and provide regular tickets updates
Participate in research, planning and implementation of new technology initiatives
Serving as the first point of contact for instructors and staff seeking technical assistance in person, over the phone or email
Performing troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions
Responsible for PCs, Printers, and related equipment (Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Hard Drive, etc.)
Installing and upgrading Windows / macOS and related software
Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues
Diagnose and resolve network issues (e.g., LAN Access)
Prioritize work orders/help desk ticket according to severity
Experience supporting meeting room audio conferencing systems



Requirements:
Proficiency in English and French
Excellent communication skills
Proven experience as a Help Desk Technician or other customer support role in the IT Field
Excellent customer support and communication skills
Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies
Ability to work independently and efficiently complete tasks
Self motivated, detail-oriented and organized
Determining the best solution based on the issue
Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel
Great problem-solving and analytical skills
Experience configuring storage and RAID controllers
Proficient with Windows, macOS, MS Office, and other common desktop applications
Administering and maintaining various Disaster Recovery and Backup Solutions
Understanding of networking and Windows Server technologies (DNS, DCHP, Active Directory)
Reliability is essential as is the ability to be on-site when necessary for emergencies
Project Management experience related to new software implementations



Desirable, but not mandatory:
Industry recognised certifications such as A+, CCNA/P, MCSA/E, Azure, VCP
Ability to perform simple cabling jobs (Cat 5e, Cat 6, patch panels, etc.)

Strong communication skills. You can effectively translate technical to non-technical content. You have outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
A team player. You are able to work independently and collaboratively with a team on specific projects.
