Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician supports the day-to-day physical operations of Rivn's commercial office buildings. Working closely with the Building Operators and Property Managers, this is a hands-on, mobile role focused on minor repairs, general upkeep, tenant service requests, and operational support across the portfolio.

This role is ideal for a reliable, resourceful individual with broad trade skills who takes pride in keeping buildings running well and looking sharp. You will work independently across multiple properties and be a key part of delivering a high standard of tenant experience.



Key Responsibilities

General Repairs & Maintenance
Perform minor repairs across carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical trades.
Complete painting, patching, drywall repair, ceiling tile replacement, and hardware adjustments.
Replace lighting, ballasts, and fixtures throughout common areas and tenant suites.
Maintain building fabric including doors, locks, hinges, closers, and interior finishes.
Document completed work orders accurately and report outstanding items to the Building Operators and Property Managers.

Building Walkthroughs & Inspections
Conduct regular interior and exterior walkthroughs to identify deficiencies and maintenance needs.
Monitor common areas, mechanical rooms, parkades, and building exterior for cleanliness and condition.
Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and items requiring contractor attention promptly.
Support seasonal maintenance including winter readiness, snow removal assistance, and spring clean-up.

Tenant Service Requests
Respond to tenant maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
Resolve minor in-suite and common area issues with minimal disruption to tenants.
Communicate clearly with Building Operators and Property Managers on request status and priorities.
Ensure all tenant facing work is completed neatly and to a high standard.

Errands & Supply Management
Pick up and deliver parts, supplies, and materials across Rivn's portfolio as needed.
Maintain an organized inventory of common maintenance supplies and tools.
Monitor stock levels and flag replenishment needs to Property Managers.

Safety & Compliance
Follow all health and safety procedures and promote safe work practices on site.
Ensure work areas are left clean, safe, and compliant after completing tasks.
Assist with fire drills, emergency response, and incident documentation as directed.
Handle and store cleaning chemicals and materials in compliance with WHMIS requirements.



Qualifications

Required
2–5 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities, or a general trades role.
Broad hands-on skills across minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs.
Ability to manage multiple work orders across multiple buildings in a day.
Professional demeanour with the ability to interact directly with tenants and contractors.
Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record.
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
Willingness to assist with after-hours emergencies on an occasional basis.

Assets (nice-to-have)
Experience in commercial property maintenance or facilities management.
WHMIS, First Aid, and CPR certification.
Familiarity with work order or property management software (e.g. Yardi).
Basic knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
