Overview Aveta Midwifery is seeking a full-scope registered midwife to join our lovely New Westminster team – in either a full time OR part-time/locum capacity. The hope is that it grows into a full time permanent position. We work in a shared care model, currently with 3 midwives alternating between phone/Zoom visits and (mostly) in-person client visits. We enjoy an average caseload of 8-14 clients per month with many returning clients and a home birth rate of approximately 10-20 percent. We primarily operate on 24-hour periods of call with occasional 48- and 12-hour sessions. Our team supports work life balance and also supports being able to have a team colleague to call when the workload is demanding and help is needed. Our primary hospital is Royal Columbian Hospital, a large tertiary centre in New Westminster with full time OB and paediatric staff on site. We have strong, excellent working relationships with staff at our nursing, OB and all other staff at our hospital. Our fully equipped and welcoming medical office in the Brewery District of New Westminster has full time administrative support. We utilize OSCAR electronic medical records and have a paging service for urgent calls. Our ideal date would be by June 1st, 2026 but we are flexible in that regard. While Fraser Health admitting privileges would be an asset, they are not required. Compensation will initially be based on the Midwives Association of BC (MABC) locum rates, adjusted to a percentage of billings once we have determined that there is a good fit. Responsibilities Provide full-scope midwifery care within a shared care model, including phone/Zoom visits and in-person client visits. Support a caseload of 8–14 clients per month and participate in 24-hour call rotations with occasional 48- and 12-hour sessions. Collaborate with Royal Columbian Hospital staff and maintain relationships with nursing, OB and pediatric teams. Support clinic operations at a fully equipped office with administrative support; utilize OSCAR EMR and paging for urgent calls. Qualifications Registered Midwife in British Columbia; eligible to practice with Fraser Health admitting privileges (asset, not required). Experience with home births and a track record of balancing call with work-life balance. Comfort working in a shared care model with a team of midwives; familiarity with OSCAR EMR.
