Lease Accountant - Ifrs 16 - Insight Global

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Lease Accountant – is responsible for the accounting, administration, and financial reporting of the company’s lease portfolio in accordance with IFRS 16. This role manages lease data, performs complex lease calculations including remeasurements and modifications, and ensures accurate reporting of Right-of-Use (ROU) assets and lease liabilities. The role works extensively within IBM TRIRIGA to maintain lease records, support accounting calculations, and ensure alignment between the lease system and the general ledger.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Lease Accounting & IFRS 16 Compliance

· Manage lease accounting for the company’s lease portfolio in accordance with IFRS 16.

· Calculate and review Right-of-Use (ROU) assets and lease liabilities.

· Perform accounting for:

o Lease modifications

o Lease remeasurements

o Index-based rent adjustments (e.g., CPI changes)

o Renewals and terminations

· Review and approve funding requests

· Review SCOA for newly created leases in the selected period

· Perform weekly reconciliations of the monthly GL file to ensure accuracy and completeness; on a monthly basis, coordinate with the client’s finance team and the IBM TRIRIGA support team to facilitate the transmission of the GL file to Oracle.

· Closely work with client finance team and respond to their questions/inquiries within 24 hrs window. Lease System Administration

· Review system-generated lease schedules and validate accuracy of calculations.

· Collaborate with the TRIRIGA system support team to resolve technical issues by logging and tracking support tickets through Service Now.

· Support system configuration, testing, and implementation of process improvements. Financial Reporting & Close Process

· Prepare and review monthly lease accounting package (Roll forward Report: monthly and YTD, Cash Flow Report / monthly and YTD, and 40-Yrs Projection Report)

· Perform variance analysis on lease records using cash flow report.

· Prepare any other ad-hoc reports as requested by users (Videotron Report, Security Deposit Report, etc.) Business & Cross-Functional Support

· Collaborate with the Abstraction, AP, and AR teams to address urgent matters requiring a strong understanding of both accounting impacts and operational processes.

· Provide guidance on lease accounting implications for new agreements. Audit & Internal Controls · Support internal and external audit requests related to lease accounting.

· Ensure appropriate internal controls over lease data and financial reporting. Qualifications; Education

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Experience · 3–5 years of accounting experience.

· Experience applying IFRS 16.

· Experience working with lease accounting systems such as IBM TRIRIGA or similar platforms.

· Strong understanding of lease accounting concepts and financial reporting.

· Advanced Excel skills and analytical ability.

· Experience with ERP systems and financial reconciliations.

·Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex data sets.

· Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

· Progress toward or completion of CPA designation.

· Experience working with IBM TRIRIGA

· Experience with large lease portfolios (real estate, equipment, or telecom infrastructure).
