The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Industrial Manufacturing Specialist to lead the build-out, commissioning, and optimization of our thermoforming production line for automotive floor mats. This role will be critical in translating tooling and process designs into stable, high-quality, and efficient manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing engineering, thermoforming, equipment integration, and continuous improvement in a production environment.



Compensation

Salary range: $78,000-92,000 (all-inclusive)



Responsibilities:

• Lead the installation, commissioning, and ramp-up of thermoforming equipment and associated upstream/downstream processes for automotive floor mat production.

• Develop and optimize process parameters to achieve consistent part quality and target throughput.

• Collaborate with tooling designers to ensure molds, dies, and fixtures are compatible with production equipment, support efficient changeovers, and meet durability and performance requirements.

• Conduct trials to validate new tooling and process changes, analyze results, and implement parameter adjustments to improve quality, cycle time, and scrap rate.

• Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, and setup documentation for all production and inspection operations.

• Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production issues 

• Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, safety, and ergonomics.

• Support the integration of auxiliary equipment such as material handling systems, trimming solutions, and basic automation to enhance line efficiency and operator safety.

• Maintain detailed records of process parameters, trials, improvement actions, and lessons learned to support knowledge sharing and future line expansions.

• Research and integrate emerging technologies, automation, and advanced manufacturing methods



Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or industrial engineering, preferably in thermoforming, compression molding, or related polymer forming processes.

• Proven experience supporting the installation, commissioning, and ramp-up of new production equipment or manufacturing lines.

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling/fixtures, and process capability, with hands-on experience in a plant or production environment.

• Expertise in CAD software (Solid Works or equivalent) for designing tools, fixtures and equipment.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or industrial engineering, preferably in thermoforming, compression molding, or related polymer forming processes.

• Proven experience supporting the installation, commissioning, and ramp-up of new production equipment or manufacturing lines.

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling/fixtures, and process capability, with hands-on experience in a plant or production environment.

• Experience developing SOPs, work instructions, and basic training materials for operators and technicians.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply structured methodologies to resolve production issues.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities while maintaining a practical, hands-on approach

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
