Offer: Key Accountabilities Serve as a MR F&C Expert and technical resource for all key underwriting process aspects Proactively partner with management, peers, other department and key stake holders to propose adjustments where needed to underwriting processes and best practices. Proven ability to interact effectively with clients, brokers and colleagues Establish and maintain sound contact with clients and brokers, keeping abreast of market and industry developments and client needs Help to fine tune and implement our portfolio strategy. Direct and oversee the timely processing of business by the your team according to underwriting guidelines, organization of submission information and the interpretation and application of the various complex contract wording clauses. Ensure that your team is trained and understand our global and local systems, pricing tools, applications and reports, how the data flows through, how to read and interpret policies, binders and contracts and have Word and Excel skills as required Demonstrated proven negotiation skills with both internal and external stakeholders. Lead departmental projects Represent the unit’s interest on corporate projects and initiatives. Participate on any global or local project that impacts the business unit or division. Identify deficiencies in underwriting processes and implement corrective actions and provide guidance/training to develop staff as needed. Apply different techniques to measure success against overall activity using data analysis to realize continuous improvement opportunities. Ensuring policies and processes within area of control are maintained, updated and fit-for-purpose. Act as a resource to team when senior level involvement required. Develop goals and objectives for individual team members consistent with Group and MRF&C Underwriting strategic objectives. Develop and mentor underwriting analysts and support the development of talent across the MR Group. Take the lead in fostering a productive work environment, creating solutions and resolving problems involving other functional units. Embrace and lead the Continuous Conversations model of performance and development enablement. Lead talent acquisition efforts, employing diversity and inclusion best practices to build diverse, high performing teams. Demonstrate advanced proficiency in the use of pricing models and other risk evaluation models. Strategic decision making based on data. Leverage staff data and analytics expertise to drive delivery model Reporting - Ensuring that all month/quarter end deliverables are met in accordance with the timetable and expected quality standard including supporting Corporate Accounting in the Audit Files/Analysis. Oversee the monitoring of team KPI’s and preparation of analysis in support of closing activities Constantly review processes and team skills with an improvement mindset including review of industry & task best practices. Travel Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally, up to 15%. Profile: Required Education Bachelor’s Degree preferred advanced degree a plus. Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) / Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) / Certified Risk Manager (CRM) an asset. Preferred Experience 10 years of experience of Insurance or Reinsurance Company experience (ideally as an Underwriting Analyst or similar role) with strong technical understanding of the end-to-end underwriting process from submission through to insurance policy/reinsurance certificate issuance. 5 years of team lead/supervisory or management experience. Specialized Knowledge and Skills Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer software. Excellent analytical, problem solving, conceptual skills and negotiating skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems. Strong technical knowledge of Facultative and Large Risk underwriting, operations, and finance. Proven ability to lead / manage people as well as handle day-to-day work with moderate to high level of autonomy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that energize and engage clients and colleagues, and the ability to convey a vision and client-focused solutions. Ability to develop and nurture working relationships within including within Munich Re North America and within the broader Munich Re Group. Good understanding of business economics (i.e. ability to assess business plans, analysis of cornerstones of business models, etc.) Business and general insurance acumen. French and/or secondary language skills, verbal and written are an asset.
