JOB OVERVIEW: Financial Reporting Systems Coordinator

To coordinate, develop, maintain and support financial system applications, functionality and data quality measures, and to assist and support the preparation and maintenance of financial data and information as pertains to Financial Planning, Reporting and Assurance.


Completion of two years of an accounting/business program at an accredited post-secondary institute and a minimum of five years experience in progressively responsible administrative support positions preferably in a Financial Services unit at a post-secondary institution or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Formal training and/or extensive acquired knowledge in computing, including proficiency at an advanced level in using an integrated financial system, preferably in a Financial Services unit at a post-secondary institution and with Banner.
Demonstrated knowledge or experience with applying accounting practices and principles to systems development and report generation.
Demonstrated understanding of internal controls and internal control procedures. 
Proficiency at an advanced level using spreadsheet programs such as MS Excel and MS Access.
Experience in implementing, testing and operationalizing new systems or system features.
Demonstrated database management skills.
Experience using or demonstrated ability to use SQL or Discoverer or TOAD or a similar data analysis tool.
Demonstrated knowledge of the use of common PC applications software such as word processing and presentation software.
Demonstrated analytical skills, including problem-solving and needs analysis.
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team, with a minimum amount of supervision.
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and take initiative.
Demonstrated ability to develop flexible approaches toward work procedures and to improvise satisfactory alternatives as required.
Aptitude for exacting and precise work.
Experience in preparing and publishing documentation.
Experience in planning and presenting training activities.
Proven ability to communicate courteously and effectively in person, in writing and over the telephone with faculty, staff, administrators, auditors, Ministry and agency officials and the public.
Good interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to develop, establish, maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of University employees and with external agencies.
Demonstrated ability to compose routine and non-routine correspondence and reports.
Demonstrated ability to plan, prepare and deliver training and presentations.
Good working knowledge of English (written and verbal).
