We are hiring a Manager, Marketing and Communications. The successful applicant will succeed in a fast-paced progressive career, enjoy working with people in a team environment and lead with excellence. This is a full-time salary role that will collaborate with Avana’s Brand team as we expand throughout Western Canada. This position is responsible for maintaining and growing Avana’s marketing portfolio to become one of the strongest brands in Western Canada. This will be done through social media management, utilization of various marketing tools and software, creative campaigns and other marketing practices. This role will have a heavy focus on digital touchpoints, and finessing these touchpoints in order to shape the public’s perception of Avana’s brand. 


First and foremost, we want someone who will know how to convey Avana’s exceptional properties to a greater audience, as we believe everyone should be able to access the standard of living Avana provides. The successful proponent will need to be nimble and pliable, as the world of marketing and branding is ever-changing, especially within a hyper-growth company. 


Key Responsibilities:
Monitor social media KPIs, setting professional objectives and reports on ROI.
Creation of brand stories through communication and copywriting for social media platforms and web.
Cohesive cross-divisional communications support as requested by the leaders of various divisions.
Speech writing.
Award nominations.
In-market and out-of-market communication strategies.
Working with each division to ensure all communication needs are met.
Coordination between Avana’s Brand team and various partners: trades, vendors, and philanthropic partners.
Assist in the planning and execution of internal and external corporation events. 
Assist in idea generation for digital efforts.
Assist in all experiential marketing efforts:
Oversee the brand representation in all community events Avana is aligned to;
Ideate new concepts for events and experiences for Avana stakeholders and residents.
Ability to ideate, assist and lead in Avana’s communication on an as-needed basis, which includes but is not limited to blogs and e-newsletters.
Work collaboratively with Creative Lead to conceptualize and design out any collateral needed.  
Conceptualize and execute communication initiatives that fit existing client profiles.  Focusing on resident and partner demographics and psychographics, and how to engage with each.
Manage all social media aspects of Avana.
Adhere to a strategy that aligns with each consumer profile.
Develop, implement and manage social media strategy and content.
Performing research on current benchmark trends and audience preferences.
Aid in creating and implementing social media strategy, with oversight from the Director, Brand, to align with business goals.
Monitor SEO and web traffic metrics.
Collaborate with other teams, like Residents, New Development and Human Resources to ensure brand consistency.
Respond to messages in a timely manner and monitor customer reviews.
Suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness, like promotions and competition.
Stay up to date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools, and applications.
Use social media marketing and project management tools such as Sprout and Monday.com.
Supervise communication and social content projects to guarantee all content is publication-ready.
Work with the marketing team to create communication and marketing strategies for new products, launches, events, and promotions.
Attend and represent Avana at various community events and functions.
Aid in the concept creation, development and execution of an Avana podcast, with the assistance of the rest of the Brand division.

Skills and Qualifications:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure.
Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+ and other social media best practices.
Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics.
Experience with doing audience and buyer persona research.
Good understanding of marketing metrics and generic KPI’s.
A desire to learn simple web development and publishing practices.
Ability to work cohesively in a group setting by being a team player, as well as work individually and autonomously.
PR Certificate is considered an asset.  
BSc degree in Marketing or relevant field.
Above-average problem-solving ability, strategic thinking, excellent time management skills and great interpersonal skills.  

Compensation Package:
Salary Range: $45,000 to $65,000 based on education and experience.
Annual Bonus: Opportunity to earn up to 10% dependent on performance reviews.
Vacation Entitlement: 20 business days per year. Must be accumulated prior to taking them, with consideration of the exceptions noted above.
Benefits: You are eligible to apply for insurance coverage (life, AD&D and long-term disability) and medical and dental benefits upon commencement of employment. Avana will cover 80% of the cost of medical and dental benefits. Option for employee to purchase disability and life insurance.
Group RRSP and RRSP Match Program: You will have the option to participate in the Group RRSP match program. The RRSP match program commences at the start of your second year of employment: in year 2, 2% of annual salary is matched; in year 3, 3% of annual salary is matched; in year 4, 4% of annual salary is matched; in year 5, 5% of annual salary is matched. Avana’s contribution will vest 12 months after the first contribution.
Parental Leave: Inclusive of four (4) months of salary top-up, with ongoing benefits based on the terms stated above. RRSP matching will not apply for the duration of the period of leave. If an employee provides resignation within 24 months of the paternal leave return date, the total amount of the salary top-up will be repaid to Avana. 
Probation Period: The probation period is 90 days from the start date listed. 
Resignation Notice: A resignation notice of 30 days is required to be provided to Avana if for any reason the employee is to resign from the organization.
COVID-19 Vaccination: As of October 21, 2021, Avana will require all employees to be double vaccinated.
Criminal Record Checks are required for all Avana employees prior to being hired.  This is to be obtained at your expense, and will not be reimbursed by the Employer.
