The Opportunity:

Are you passionate about leading Mine Projects at a world class oil sands mining facility? We are currently looking for a Project Engineer to join our Albian Technical Services Engineering team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to display your proficiency by leading the development and delivery of mine projects at Albian Sands mine operations. The Project Engineer role is responsible for the engineering of a wide variety of infrastructure projects critical to mine development including haul roads, dewatering systems, communications infrastructure and other civil construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with a wide variety of stakeholders across the technical disciplines and mine operations.

Key Accountabilities:

Responsible for front-end project development, engineering, and hand-over of execution packages to mine project execution teams
Implement project governance processes and management systems to ensure project quality and on-time execution
Develop detailed scope-of-work packages and coordinate the activities of engineering teams and external EPC contractors
Create detailed construction packages in coordination with the Mine Projects execution teams
Budgeting, control of project costs, and scheduling of activities
Support Procurement and Supply Management activities
Coordinate the participation of various stakeholders: Mine Operations & Maintenance, Technical Services, Regulatory & Environment
Communication with leadership team, technical teams and regulatory
Support development of the annual mine budget, including monthly cost forecasts and interaction with Finance teams
Authentication and validation of professional work as per Canadian Natural and APEGA’s PPMP

Job location: Albian Sands, Fort McMurray, AB
Shift Schedule: 4 x 3 – 10 hour days
Eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Relocation Regular Policy

Skills & Qualifications:

Degree in Mining, Geotechnical, or Civil Engineering
Registered with APEGA as a P.Eng
Minimum of 10+ years of engineering experience in oilsands or mine operations
Certification or training in Project Management
Proficient in CAD software
Strong understanding of open pit mining, and project management
Class 5 Drivers License with no known driving limitations
Robust interpersonal skills with effective written & oral communication skills
