Electrical Estimator

About the job

Our Client is an electrical contracting company and have delivered our services to over 200 residential and commercial projects ranging in size from less than 10 units to over 500 units, from townhouses to high-rises. They're looking to add an Electrical Estimator to their team.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of full-cost estimates for projects, including materials and labour.
• Ability to analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation
• Understanding of labour required for electrical installations
• Preparation of full cost estimates for general tenders in both the commercial and high-rise residential sectors
• Prepare materials, labour and equipment cost estimations according to proposals, plans and specifications.
• Ability to price change notices in a timely manner.
• Maintain a list of suppliers, contractors and sub-trades and negotiate with them as necessary to obtain the most competitive and profitable prices
• Maintain a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
• Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
• Ability to identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts

Qualifications and Experience

• 5+ years of on-site experience in the Residential Hi-Rise Sector with an electrical contractor.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Bluebeam and Accubid
• High level of organization skills (High volume environment)
• Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in work.
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Strong reading and writing skills with the ability to read and interpret scopes of work and other common tender documents.
• Ability to write complete reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
