The Role:

We have an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team. The primary focus of this role is to advance electrical hardware selection, purchasing decisions, and to support commissioning of electrical devices. Your main tasks will include:

Prepare the electrical engineering design basis and assist in conceptual design of plant-wide electrical systems and electrical layout.
Generate electrical design drawings and other documentation including single line diagrams, electrical schematics, panel layouts, load lists, cable schedules, and other related documentation.
Perform calculations for short circuit current ratings, nominal and peak loads, overcurrent protection devices, cable sizes, and voltage drop.
Generate detailed design of /V AC electrical power panels for industrial applications as well as 24V DC industrial PLC control panels.
Prepare detailed specifications for following components and systems: electrical enclosures, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), disconnects, circuit breakers, distribution blocks, transformers, cable trays, and cables, motor contactors, and other miscellaneous components of the electrical system.
Work with the in-house Production team and ensure work packages, installation instructions, and required parts are in place ahead of the build schedule.
Work in multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with Mechanical Engineers and Project Engineers to ensure all stakeholders are aligned on all aspects of the electrical design.
Work closely with junior Engineers and Technologists to ensure accurate delivery of engineering deliverables that meet project requirements, internal standards, industry standards good engineering practices.
Project manage assigned scope of electrical engineering work for water treatment projects of varying sizes.
Maintain complete project documentation.
Maintain good working relationships with internal groups that support the project.
Support our in-house Production team with the installation and testing of panels and equipment.
Occasionally support hands-on commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
Occasionally travel to plant installations in customer-facing environments for start-up and commissioning.

You will be a great fit if you have:

A degree in Electrical Engineering.
Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
5-7 years of experience working with industrial control panels and low voltage electrical systems.
Experience coordinating with production/assembly and creating build work packages.
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams where multiple stakeholders are involved.
Knowledge of Canadian or US Electrical Codes and its application.
Solid electrical engineering foundation paired with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
Knowledge and familiarity with developing high-quality electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
Hands-on Prototyping and troubleshooting skills.
