We are seeking an Intermediate to Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong interest in utilities, high-voltage systems, and protection & control to support the design, operation, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure to join our client in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This role will involve a mix of engineering design, field work, and asset maintenance activities across utility and industrial power systems.
Key Responsibilities Design, review, and support high-voltage power systems, including substations, transmission, and distribution infrastructure
Develop and maintain protection & control schemes, including relay settings, coordination studies, and testing support
Support asset management and maintenance programs for electrical infrastructure, including condition assessments and lifecycle planning
Participate in field work, including site visits, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and outage support
Provide technical support for capital projects, upgrades, and system expansions
Review drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with applicable standards and utility requirements
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, utilities, contractors, and stakeholders
Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and reliability improvement initiatives
Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards, procedures, and best practices Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience in utilities, power systems, or high-voltage engineering
Strong knowledge of protection & control systems, including relays, SCADA interfaces, and communication protocols
Experience with high-voltage equipment such as transformers, breakers, switchgear, and substations
Field experience supporting testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities
Understanding of asset maintenance and reliability-based maintenance practices
Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.)
