Director Origination, National Client Group
The National Client Group (NCG) at National Bank is seeking a results‑oriented individual to join a highly driven team focused on market expansion across Western Canada. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Director will source new full‑service client relationships within the BC market, building a pipeline of prospective clients and working closely with internal partners to structure customized financing solutions.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute marketing strategies to grow the client base and revenue in line with group objectives.
Coordinate prospecting activities while maintaining key internal and external partner relationships.
Build a strong market presence by engaging with accounting firms, advisors, law firms, and industry leaders.
Collaborate with internal partners (Execution, Private Banking, Investment Banking/M&A, Equipment Finance, Risk Management, Cash Management) to proactively initiate and structure financing solutions.
Monitor competitive dynamics to optimize pricing and structuring of new deals.
Stay aware of market and economic conditions to manage risks appropriately.
Qualifications – External
Related field (business, finance, economics).
8‑10 years of corporate/commercial lending experience in Canada and strong knowledge of key prospects.
Track record of developing and implementing marketing strategies to drive business development.
Excellent credit skills; experience structuring complex senior debt financings and working in the syndicated loan market.
Strong knowledge of lending and ancillary products (cash management, derivative trading) and ability to identify ancillary opportunities.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, networking, negotiation, sales/closing, and teamwork skills.
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, commercial systems).
Spoken and written English a requirement; French an asset.
