About Residen
Residen is the student housing marketplace that connects university and college students with landlords across Canada. We're on a mission to fix the broken student housing search: making it easier, faster, and more transparent for students to find their next home. We're a tightly knit, fast-moving, high-energy entrepreneurial team preparing for a major national expansion, and we're looking for our next team member to help us get there. In just 12 months we expanded across all of Ontario. Next year we will scale across all of Canada.
The Role
We're hiring a Marketing & Community Coordinator to help drive student engagement and grow our presence across Canadian campuses. You'll play a hands-on role in community management, social media, content creation, and marketing execution. You will directly work with students and be responsible for building and scaling the programs that put Residen in front of students nationwide.
This is a rare opportunity at an early-stage startup. While this is entry level position, you will be doing real work, seeing the impact, and shaping how we grow. You will be expected to hit the ground running right away. We're open to candidates across Canada, with a preference for those willing to work in-person in Toronto.
…and one more thing: we don't do traditional applications. Check the bottom of this posting to see how to apply.
What You'll Do
Build, manage, and grow student-facing community programs across multiple universities, including hands-on involvement with program participants
Plan, create, and publish social media content across Instagram, Tik Tok, Linked In, email, and other relevant platforms
Help execute marketing campaigns and initiatives that drive student awareness and sign-ups
Monitor content performance and metrics, and iterate based on what's working
Brainstorm and test new ideas for reaching students at scale. We want someone who's always thinking about the next creative lever to pull
Collaborate closely with the founding team on demand-side strategy as we expand nationally
Who You Are
A recent university graduate (Class of 2025 or 2026)
Deeply familiar with the university student experience: you understand how students search for housing, what campus culture looks like and what messaging resonates
Actively involved during your time at university: clubs, student government, orientation, varsity, competitions, residence life, or similar
A strong communicator, both written and verbal
You love working with people and know how to motivate and bring them together to achieve a desired goal
Organized and reliable; you can juggle 15+ concurrent relationships and follow up with all of them
Naturally active on social media with a genuine feel for what content performs well, and why
A self-starter who's ambitious, comfortable with ambiguity, and excited by the pace of a small team
Curious about startups, marketplaces, or the intersection of technology and real estate
Bonus Points
Experience creating viral campaigns
Experience managing or mentoring peers (e.g., club executive, team captain, RA, orientation leader)
Familiarity with social media scheduling tools (Buffer, Later, Hootsuite, etc.)
Experience creating visual content using Canva, Figma, or similar tools
Bilingual (English/French)
Participation in case competitions, hackathons, or marketing competitions
Why Residen Real ownership. You're not an intern and you're not a cog. You'll own programs, make decisions, and see your work directly move the needle. Mentorship from the founding team. You'll work side-by-side with leadership, not through three layers of middle management. A mission that matters to you. If you or someone you know have ever struggled to find student housing, you already understand the problem we're solving.
Room to grow. We're scaling nationally. As the company grows, so does your role and your career.
