Position Summary

To support our growth and continued innovation as a firm, we are building out a new line of business, Nicola Institutional, to focus specifically on Institutional clients. Reporting to the Vice President, Institutional Client Relationship Manager, your mandate will be to support the Institutional team with a focus on business development, client service, and internal operations. This is a career building opportunity for someone with direct experience on an institutional sales team, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a drive to directly impact the build out the Nicola Institutional division.

The location of this role will be a hybrid working model based in Vancouver, BC.

As an Associate, Institutional, you will:

  • Partner with all aspects of the organization to support institutional business development activities. This includes but is not limited to: Play a lead role in coordinating the Request for Proposal (RFP) and Due Diligence Questionnaire processes, including working closely with our Compliance Solutions and Marketing teams. Manage all data requests including internal coordination and follow ups. Manage the prospect tracking process in Salesforce. Prepare presentations for business development opportunities including conferences and other speaking engagements. Partner with Marketing and the Portfolio Managers to support development of collateral materials.
  • Manage the client onboarding process including coordination of internal meetings, coordination with Legal, Governance & Compliance for legal requirements, and communicate with clients as required.
  • Prepare investment portfolio reviews, including all supporting materials, client specific updates and schedule all review meetings. These reviews include assisting in the portfolio compliance and monitoring responsibilities as well as coordination of incoming and outgoing funds.
  • Manage day-to-day client requests and rapidly resolve any client queries in a personalized manner.
  • Produce quarterly/ad hoc reporting as required.
  • Manage all databases including, e Vestment and Preqin.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, enhancements, and efficiency optimization.
  • Build quality relationships internally to foster collaboration and support the build out of the institutional line of business.

  • Your experience and qualifications will include:

  • 3-5 years of related work experience in an Institutional investment team.
  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline
  • Completion of a graduate degree or MBA program is considered an asset.
  • Working towards CFA or CIM designation is highly desirable.
  • Experience delivering results in high performing client service-oriented role with both internal and external clients.
