Role: Heavy Equipment Technician



Location: Mississauga, ON

Job Type: Full-Time

Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Monday to Friday) + overtime as required



Job Summary:

Amaco Construction Equipment is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Heavy Equipment Technician to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty construction and municipal equipment—both in-shop and in the field when needed. This role demands strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic expertise, a commitment to safety, and excellent communication skills.

Compensation:
$40–$47 an hour (starting salary and have flexibility depending on your background/experience)

Job Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on heavy equipment
Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections, especially on rental units
Assist with field service calls and conduct on-road repairs as required
Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot equipment issues and ensure successful post-repair testing
Complete daily service reports, warranty paperwork, and documentation accurately
Perform welding repairs as needed
Comply with all safety procedures and report any unsafe work conditions or incidents
Stay current with technical advancements through regular training sessions
Travel as required and be able to work independently in remote or fast-paced environments



Qualifications: Valid 421 A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician License (required)

– OR – Valid 310 T Truck and Coach Technician License (required)

Completion of all required schooling and currently eligible to write the certification exam (required)
Minimum 1 year of experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment (for licensed technicians)
Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic diagnostic skills
Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics
Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract; D/Z license is an asset
Physically capable of lifting up to 80 lbs
Proficiency with computer-based diagnostics and service documentation
Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
Safety-focused, dependable, and self-driven
Preferred: Experience with crusher/screening equipment Assets: Overhead crane certification, forklift, working at heights, and First Aid certification
No requirement for “Canadian experience”
