Position Overview: We are seeking a talented and innovative Research and Development Photonics Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in photonics, optical engineering, or materials science, with a focus on developing innovative colored glass products. This role is crucial in advancing our research efforts at the intersection of photonics and materials science, particularly in the development of colored glass using cutting-edge technologies. Key Responsibilities Technology Evaluation: Evaluate emerging technologies in photonics and materials science for their potential application in colored glass creation, providing technical assessments and recommendations. THis includes experiences with laser systems, optical fibers, and photonic crystals Experimental Design: Design and conduct experiments to test new concepts and technologies for colored glass production, ensuring adherence to scientific methods and protocols. Data Analysis: Analyze experimental data and interpret results to guide the development of new colored glass products, using statistical analysis and modeling techniques as needed. Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation of experimental procedures, results, and conclusions, adhering to internal standards and industry best practices. Collaborative Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new methods for manipulating light and materials to achieve desired optical effects in glass, contributing technical expertise and insights. Industry Research: Stay current with advancements in photonics technologies and materials science through literature reviews, conference attendance, and networking, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement. Prototype Development: Support the development of prototypes and proof-of-concept demonstrations for new colored glass products, working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams. Quality Control: Assist in the development of quality control procedures and standards for colored glass production, ensuring that products meet specifications and performance requirements. Optimization: Apply strong problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and optimize processes related to colored glass creation, collaborating with team members to find creative solutions. Continuous Disruption of the Industry: Continuously expand knowledge and skills in photonics, materials science, and related fields through self-study and professional development opportunities, contributing to the overall expertise of the R&D team. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph. D. degree in photonics, optical engineering, materials science, physics, or a related field. Experience working with photonics technologies such as laser systems, optical fibers, and photonic crystals. Knowledge of how light interacts with materials to produce color, particularly in the context of glass manufacturing. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to innovate in a research environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. Preferred: Experience in the development of colored glass products or related optical materials. Familiarity with materials used in glass production and their optical properties. Experience with experimental design and data analysis techniques. A track record of publications or patents in the field of photonics or materials science.
