SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Person who conducts socially oriented activities in accordance with the techniques specific to her/his profession
Education:
Diploma of college studies with specialization in Social Work Techniques, or Social Assistance Techniques from a school recognized by the ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport;
This job title also includes the persons who, after having acquired pertinent experience, have a certificate of college studies in Social Work Techniques or Social Assistance Techniques;
Holder of the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training is an asset or willingness to follow it.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of and experience with public and community health prevention and promotion related approaches, methods, issues and programming (and in First Nation contexts being an asset);
Knowledge of MSSS programs and regulations for first lines services is an asset;
Knowledge of Cree culture, and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
Knowledge of Eenou/Eeyou Miyupimaatisiiun healing practices and paradigms is an asset;
Good understanding of developmental psychology, and social domains;
Basic understanding of the services offered by the shelter and be aware of the other services available in the community and surrounding area;
Ability to work with the targeted clientele;
Excellent teamwork skills;
Excellent critical thinking, organizational and decision-making skills;
Autonomous, likes to take initiative, flexible, discrete and empathetic;
Excellent communication skills, both group animation, written and presentation;
Ability in office-related computer applications.
Language:
Fluent in English;
Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.
